Electronic client referrals are a great illustration of how opportunity to connect and share information extended framework to empower and build capacity.  

 

The referral system allows for self-referrals directly to service providers and for a more accountable referral process between service providers across town or around the world.   These electronic referrals are made possible by finding a qualified service provider in the resource directory, confirming hours of operation, requirements, etc. and clicking a button to make the referral.  Once one or several service providers are located, maps can be printed, referrals made, acknowledgements received, and more.

 

As organizations make and receive referrals, more organizations become aware and because it improves productivity more register in the directory and keep their information current.   The dynamic is that a useful application (Electronic Referrals) will increase the use of the directory, build the directory, and keep the information in the directory current and reliable. 

 

This cycle of use and growth creates momentum.   Connecting client referrals with the resource directory is only a first step to share information, build framework, and begin a sustainable momentum of change.
